LIEBMANN HANDED PRESTIGIOUS PETER CRAVEN MEMORIAL CALL-UPLIEBMANN HANDED PRESTIGIOUS PETER CRAVEN MEMORIAL CALL-UP

German racer Celina Liebmann takes on some of the FIM Speedway Grand Prix series' biggest stars as she joins Belle Vue captain Brady Kurtz in the Peter Craven Memorial line-up on March 18.

Liebmann has established herself as the sport’s top female star – a reputation enhanced by promising performances in the 2022 SGP2 series, as well as by earning a place in Workington’s Cab Direct Championship side for 2024.

Now she will compete in one of Britain’s top open events alongside Speedway GP trio Fredrik Lindgren, Dan Bewley and Jason Doyle, plus SGP first reserve Max Fricke and FIM North America champion Luke Becker, with former Aussie champion Kurtz the latest addition to the field.

Liebmann was part of the FIM Women’s Speedway Academy in Manchester last summer and Belle Vue boss Mark Lemon looks forward to seeing her in action against some of the sport’s top names.

He said: “We’re very excited to welcome Celina to Manchester in her first competitive appearance on UK soil and I’m sure supporters will be just as excited to see her.

“Women in sport is a topic that has been growing considerably over the last few years and she has practically become the face of women in speedway.

“She’s proved that she has the skillset to compete with some of the top riders her age, and now she is ready to take the next step and see how she measures up against some of the world’s best.”

Lemon is also pleased to add Kurtz to the line-up as he prepares for his fourth straight season in Aces colours.

He added: “Brady is a world class performer, and since joining Belle Vue, he has really bought into the spirit of the club and the whole Mancunian lifestyle.

“The supporters love him, and I think this year is going to be a big season form him, and I’m certain he will want to get things off to a flying start.

“It wouldn’t be the first time he’s made a Peter Craven Memorial final, and the top step of the podium is well within his ability to achieve.

“I’ve said it before, but this event always attracts a fantastic field and, yes, there are the favourites for the win, but you can’t rule out guys like Brady.”
