French racer Dimitri Berge led the qualifiers for the Speedway European Championship series at the SEC Challenge in Stralsund, Germany on Saturday.

Berge topped the podium after racing to 12 points from five rides, before winning a run-off with in-form Danish star Michael Jepsen Jensen, who matched his score.

Also through to the four-round SEC series is third-placed Ukrainian star Nazar Parnitskyi. The 2024 SGP2 silver medallist claimed the final podium place on 11 points.

Danish racer Frederik Jakobsen and Poland’s double SGP2 champion Mateusz Cierniak bagged the last two qualification places after winning a run-off with former Speedway GP stars Przemyslaw Pawlicki and Szymon Wozniak. The quartet tied on 10.

The top five in the SEC Challenge are joined by five of the top six from the 2024 European Championship – reigning champion Andzejs Lebedevs, Denmark’s Leon Madsen, and Polish trio Kacper Woryna, Piotr Pawlicki and Patryk Dudek. Dudek finished sixth in the standings, but steps in for Danish star Anders Thomsen, who opted out of the competition.

The remaining five places will be issued to five permanent wild cards by FIM Europe and SEC promoter One Sport.
