DANISH DEAL FOR ZAGAR

Slovenian star Matej Zagar is targeting Super Final qualification after signing for Grindsted in the Danish Speedwayligaen.

The former world No.5 admits he endured a difficult 2023 season but is determined to turn things around with a club that has already recruited the likes of triple Speedway GP world champion Nicki Pedersen, Kenneth Bjerre, David Bellego, Patrick Hansen and Bastian Borke for 2024.

The Ljubljana-born racer told the club’s Facebook page: “Last year could have been much better but we can’t change the past. I had a rough season with some machine issues. 

“I'm preparing strongly for the new season, where I'll prove my worth for Grindsted. The goal is Grindsted to go to the finals and be there all the way.”

It is unclear where Zagar will race in Poland, although he has signed a Warsaw contract with Lublin – a contract that does not commit him to that club, but opens the door to him signing for another team at a later stage.
