Four-time Speedway GP world champion Bartosz Zmarzlik bids to make it four Polish Championships on the bounce in 2024 after Lodz, Bydgoszcz and Lublin were confirmed as host clubs for the three-round series.

The Polish Championship finals get underway in Lodz on July 6, before moving to legendary former Speedway GP venue Bydgoszcz on July 27. Zmarzlik then bids to seal title No.4 at his PGE Ekstraliga home track Lublin on August 10.

As reigning champion, Zmarzlik qualifies automatically for the series, along with 2023 runner-up Maciej Janowski and third-placed Patryk Dudek. As Speedway GP regulars, Dominik Kubera and Szymon Wozniak also get seeded spots, along with Polish Under-21 champion Bartlomiej Kowalski.

The rest of the qualifiers will be decided at the Polish Championship Challenge in Pila on May 30, with the PZM also set to offer two wild-card spots for the series.

Despite lifting three national titles on the bounce, Zmarzlik is as hungry as ever to go for gold in 2024.

He said: “Winning never gets boring. The feeling when you stand on the podium, especially in first place, is something indescribable. You know that you have done your job properly and that you now have a moment to be happy.

“I am very happy that I have already won three individual Polish Championship titles, but I certainly don't want to stop there. I want to fight for more as long as I stay fit and healthy.

“The Polish Championship is an extremely prestigious event. You are racing to be the best rider in the country. Riding in the Polish Championship is an obligation, honour and respects all those competitors who risked their health and lives in the past to win this title. I am very happy that this rich tradition is still maintained, and I hope that its prestige will continue to grow.”

Before he kicks off his Polish title defence, Zmarzlik gets his bid for SGP gold medal No.5 underway in the FIM Speedway GP of Croatia on April 27, when he chases a third straight victory in Donji Kraljevec.
