THOMSEN CONFIRMS HAND SURGERY

Double Danish champion Anders Thomsen confirmed he is awaiting surgery on his hand after thanking fans for an outpouring of support following his crash in Riga last Saturday.

The Gorzow and Vojens favourite crashed in heat two of the OlyBet FIM Speedway GP of Latvia – Riga, clearing the air fence after being sent straight following a close battle with Jason Doyle.

Thomsen was taken to hospital for checks on Saturday. Posting a video on his Facebook and Instagram account on Sunday evening, he confirmed he is awaiting an operation on his hand.

But the rider says he has been lifted by the huge volume of messages he has received from the speedway world. 

He said: “Hey everybody, I just want to say thank you for your messages of support. That’s a really great thing for me. 

“Now I am waiting for surgery for my hand. It’s a little bit complicated so we are waiting for a really good doctor. Hopefully everything will be good.

“Again, huge thanks to all the fans and all the support I’ve had from Stal Gorzow. It’s really great for me. Thanks to my family and manager.”

Everyone at FIM Speedway wishes Anders a very speedy recovery.
