Polish star Piotr Pawlicki revealed he is set to make his Birmingham debut on Thursday, April 4 as he recovers from a leg muscle injury.

The Brummies were held to a 45-45 draw by Rowe Motor Oil Premiership title favourites Sheffield at Perry Barr on Monday.

Triple world champion Tai Woffinden starred for the Tigers on 14 paid 15 points from six races, before winning the super heat to net the visitors an extra league point after the match ended all square.

British racer Leon Flint topped the score chart for Birmingham on nine points, with Czech charger Vaclav Milik and GB star Tom Brennan adding eight paid nine apiece.

Former Speedway GP winner Pawlicki was due to start the season with the Brummies, but the team was forced to draft in seven-time British champion Scott Nicholls as a short-term signing after the Pole sustained a leg muscle injury during a training camp with his PGE Ekstraliga team Zielona Gora.

Ahead of the Sheffield clash, Birmingham uploaded a video update from Pawlicki, who confirmed his leg is on the mend, and he is expected to make his debut away to King’s Lynn next Thursday.

He said: “Hello guys, good luck tonight and have good fun. I want to say something about my leg. I feel really good. I visit the doctor this Thursday to check how it is, and then that’s it.

“On Friday, I have my first test meeting in Poland, so the season is coming for me. Next Thursday, I am coming to England, so I am really happy, so I will see you next Thursday.”

Nicholls looks set to continue in the side for the trip to Ipswich on Thursday and Brummies’ home clash with Oxford on Monday.

Meanwhile, Pawlicki is due to line up in the Golden Helmet Final at Opole on Monday – a meeting which usually plays a role in determining Poland’s entrants for the Speedway GP qualification rounds.
