The 2024 Ben Fund Bonanza will take place at Workington’s Northside track on Sunday, July 14 – the day after the FIM Speedway of Nations Final in Manchester.

Riders from across Britain and around the world are set to line up at the Cab Direct Championship’s newest venue, home of the Workington Comets, located on the edge of the stunning Lake District.

They will be racing to raise cash for the Speedway Riders Benevolent Fund, which helps riders temporarily or permanently sidelined by injuries sustained on the track.

The event was originally due to take place in March but was postponed due to the adverse early-season weather.

Now it will be staged less than 24 hours after the FIM SON Final showdown at the National Speedway Stadium on Saturday, July 13, which sees Great Britain take on six other nations in a bid to regain the FIM SON world title they famously lifted in Manchester in 2021.

SRBF Chairman Paul Ackroyd hopes the new date will attract fans from far and wide. He said: “First of all, we know that a very good percentage of the original field will be available. I wanted to have as many of the same riders as possible for what we feel is a very good field.

“Of course, there will be many supporters who are in the north of England for the SON Final, and maybe some who come from overseas.

“Hopefully we are giving enough notice for fans to build in a Sunday afternoon event at Workington as well.”
