Welcome to SON
Fifteen countries, four nights of racing, and only one FIM SON World Champion
Denmark’s iconic Vojens Speedway Center hosted the 2022 FIM Speedway of Nations – the first of the new Warner Bros. Discovery Sports era, which saw all four events take place at one venue.
After four nights of shocks and surprises, Australia faced off with 2021 champions Great Britain in the Grand Final.
And it was a green and gold night for the Roos, as Jack Holder and Max Fricke teamed up to beat Lions duo Robert Lambert and Dan Bewley to claim Australia’s first world team title since they won the 2002 FIM Speedway World Cup at British track Peterborough.
There was also gold for Poland’s under-21 team as they lifted the FIM Team Speedway Under-21 World Championship in SON2. They defend their crown in 2023 at Latvian capital club Riga on Friday, August 11 – the night before the FIM Speedway GP of Latvia – Riga on August 12.
With the FIM Speedway World Cup making its much-anticipated return to the calendar in 2023, the next full FIM Speedway of Nations takes place in 2024 – check back for more news in 2023!
