Bewley sent the Cardiff crowd wild when he made the start of dreams to top the podium ahead of Speedway GP World Championship leader Bartosz Zmarzlik, Patryk Dudek and 2019 winner Leon Madsen on Saturday night.
Chants of ‘Bewley, Bewley’ reverberated across Principality Stadium as the Cumbrian hero ended Britain’s 15-year wait for a Cardiff winner since Chris Harris blazed to victory in 2007. It was also the 23-year-old’s first Speedway GP win in his very first final.
With speedway fans from all over the UK, Europe and around the world gathering in Cardiff for Britain’s biggest arena motorsport event, set in the heart of the lively Welsh capital, this truly will be the perfect way to round off summer 2023.
After celebrating Cardiff’s 20th Speedway GP event, Paul Bellamy, CEO of Sidetrack Ltd, which runs the FIM British Speedway GP on behalf of Discovery Sports Events can’t wait to bring the world’s top riders back to Principality Stadium. He said: “This year was our first event for three years and we were determined to celebrate it in style – to have Dan win in Cardiff really was the icing on the cake.
“It was great to see so many fans returning to the Principality Stadium and it would be fantastic to see everyone come back next year, taking full advantage of the offers we’ve put in place as Dan defends his title.”
