Tickets are on sale now as the FIM Speedway GP of Great Britain – Cardiff celebrates its 20th visit to the Principality Stadium on Saturday, August 13.

After a three-year absence, Britain’s biggest arena motorsport event roars back into the Welsh capital with an action-packed weekend on and off the track.

As well as the Speedway GP stars going wheel-to-wheel, organisers have plenty of surprises lined up to toast two decades of World-Championship motorsport in Cardiff – with a fanzone taking over the city on the Saturday, before racing gets started at 5pm.

And the action continues on Sunday, August 14 at 1pm, when the Principality Stadium hosts the FIM SGP2 of Great Britain – the second round of the revamped FIM Speedway Under-21 World Championship.

With entry to this meeting included in the FIM British Speedway GP ticket price, make sure you’re part of Cardiff’s biggest-ever speedway weekend. Tickets are available here now: https://fimspeedwaygpofcardiff.seetickets.com/

The event is set to reunite fans from across the UK and around the world and Paul Bellamy, chairman of Sidetrack Ltd, which runs the FIM British Speedway GP on behalf of Discovery Sports Events, can’t wait to see bikes roar back into the iconic Principality Stadium.

He said: “Going back to Cardiff in August is really uplifting for everybody. Having been starved of Speedway GP for three years, we are expecting that everyone will want to come. We are expecting a bumper crowd.

“I appreciate everyone’s patience in waiting for tickets to go on sale. Tickets are now on sale and it’s great to say, ‘we’re back!’

“For me, Cardiff is Speedway GP’s spiritual home and we are looking at marking our 20th anniversary in a special way with a number of different things. We hope to see old friends and former winners back there, and this is also an opportunity for everyone to come back and celebrate the past two decades together with us.

“Another big thing we have for this year is the SGP2 event on the Sunday. Tickets for the FIM British Speedway GP will be valid for Sunday’s event at no extra charge. It is the first time we have staged two events in Cardiff. It’s a great way to celebrate our 20th anniversary.”

The FIM British Speedway GP is the Principality Stadium’s longest-running third-party event, and stadium manager Mark Williams is delighted to welcome speedway fans back for the first time since 2019.

He said: “To confirm it’s coming back, and we finally get to celebrate 20 years together is a wonderful moment after two years of cancellations due to Covid.

“Speedway brings together motorsport fans from across the world to Cardiff; it’s always a thrilling event, but this year promises to be spectacular.”
