Speedway fans in Croatia can watch the start of a new FIM Speedway Grand Prix era live on nationwide free-to-air channel SPTV on Saturday, April 30.
Coverage of the FIM Speedway GP of Croatia – Donji Kraljevec, which will be the first round of the 2022 Speedway GP World Championship and the first under new global promoter Discovery Sports Events, will be made available to the widest possible Croatian audience.
There will also be a one-hour highlights show from Donji Kraljevec on national public broadcaster HRT on Sunday at 17:30.
It’s the first time since 2012 that the Speedway GP series has visited the Speedway Stadion Milenium, which has staged a host of world-class events since, including the Speedway European Championship and three FIM GP Challenges – the final round of the Speedway GP qualifiers.
The Donji Kraljevec race track has a reputation for delivering close and unpredictable racing.
Croatian fans can also follow the entire Speedway GP series live and in full on the Eurosport App, which features qualifying practice coverage, a documentary series and other innovative features, including live data such as rider heartbeat, reaction time and trajectory analysis to illustrate the demands placed on the riders on the track. Highlights of every Speedway GP round will also be available on the Eurosport 1 television channel.
François Ribeiro, Head of Discovery Sports Events, commented: “It’s a pleasure to be starting a new era for Speedway GP in Croatia and we are delighted to be showcasing the FIM Croatian Speedway GP live to a nationwide television audience with SPTV, as well as bringing highlights to Croatian viewers on HRT.
“I know the racing at Donji Kraljevec has always been closely fought and it’s very tough to predict a winner for this year’s opening round.
“Viewers are in for an epic evening of racing on SPTV and we look forward to more Croatian sports fans seeing just how exciting the racing is when the 2022 Speedway GP season launches at Speedway Stadion Milenium on April 30.”
