Welcome to SGP2
The newly-revamped FIM Speedway Under-21 World Championship series!
For the first time ever, Discovery Sports Events has teamed up with the FIM to bring all of the FIM Speedway World Championship events together in a brand-new pyramid system, helping young riders race their way from grassroots to senior level.
SGP2 gives the world’s top under-21 riders a dream opportunity to share the spotlight with the FIM Speedway Grand Prix stars as they stake their claim to be part of the SpeedwayGP World Championship in the future.
The inaugural SGP2 will be an exciting three-round series, launching at Prague’s historic Marketa Stadium on Friday, May 27 – the night before the Czech Republic SpeedwayGP.
The sport’s top young guns then race on one of world speedway’s grandest stages when round two takes place at Cardiff’s Principality Stadium at 1pm (UK time) on Sunday, August 14 – the day after the iconic British SpeedwayGP in the Welsh capital.
The SGP2 World Under-21 champion will then be crowned at Torun’s Marian Rose Motoarena in Poland on Friday, September 30 – the night before the Torun SpeedwayGP.
Sixteen riders will compete in each round with the majority of the riders making it via three qualifiers taking place at Latvian track Daugavpils, Swedish venue Gislaved and former Slovenian SpeedwayGP circuit Krsko on May 7. The line-up will be completed by wild cards chosen by the SGP Commission.
Enjoy a glimpse of tomorrow’s SpeedwayGP stars and two days of fast and furious action when SGP2 comes to Prague, Cardiff and Torun!
