FIM SPEEDWAY WORLD CUP
Speedway’s original team event is back for 2023 as the FIM Speedway World Cup returns to the shale after a six-year absence!
Torun’s Marian Rose Motoarena provides the stage as Discovery Sports Events and the FIM relaunch one of the sport’s most popular tournaments, which will be staged every three years from 2023.
For the first time ever, the entire SWC takes place at one venue as Event 1, Event 2, the Race Off and the SWC Final will all be held in Torun from Tuesday, July 25 until Saturday, July 29. That’s 20 heats of action per night on one of the world’s most exciting race tracks.
Eight countries will line up in the 2023 SWC, with Poland guaranteed a place as host nation. They will be joined by the highest ranked countries in the 2022 FIM Speedway of Nations in Esbjerg, Denmark. Each country can line up with four senior riders and one under-21 substitute.
The revamped SWC will also feature a grassroots event on the Saturday afternoon as part of the recently-revealed SGP4 project, offering speedway’s youngest riders their first taste of international action.
Poland won the last SWC staged on home soil at Leszno in 2017 – their eighth world title in 13 seasons. But seven of speedway’s strongest nations will be determined to stop them from making it nine in Torun.
