WITAMY W SGP ACADEMY

TRAINING THE SPEEDWAY GP STARS OF TOMORROW

The FIM SGP Academy launched at Prague’s Marketa Stadium in May 2024 as youth riders from around the world received coaching from Speedway GP greats Tony Rickardsson and Greg Hancock.

The FIM SGP Academy expanded to two events for 2025, and kicked off with the FIM SGP Academy – Down Under at Adelaide venue Gillman from January 22-24, as Rickardsson, Speedway GP star Max Fricke, FIM Track Racing Commission director Armando Castagna and FIM Speedway race director Phil Morris all headed to South Australia to coach the stars of tomorrow.

The second FIM SGP Academy took place as part of the Virkvarn FIM Speedway GP of Sweden – Malilla weekend in early July, featuring coaching from Rickardsson, Hancock and Swedish national coach Linus Sundstrom.

The FIM SGP Academy features a combination of on-track training and off-track classroom sessions, giving riders advice in many aspects of the sport, including sporting and anti-doping regulations, starting and riding techniques, bike preparation, media and social media, sponsorship, fitness and health.

With the FIM SGP Academy events all taking place away from any youth racing events, they provide the perfect opportunity for riders and their families to learn and hone their skills away from a competition and, most importantly, have fun and meet other young riders and speedway families from around the world.
