Speedway GP duo Bartosz Zmarzlik and Dominik Kubera have been named in Poland’s national squad for the 2025 season as they bid for their first-ever FIM Speedway of Nations gold medal on home shale.

The sport’s ultimate test of team riding returns to Poland for the first time since 2020, when Torun’s Marian Rose Motoarena stages the Semi-Finals on Tuesday, September 30 and Wednesday, October 1. The top three countries in each semi join hosts Poland in the Final on Saturday, October 4.

Five-time Speedway GP world champion Zmarzlik and FIM SGP Challenge qualifier Kubera will fly the white and red flag in Speedway GP this year, and they are joined in the national squad by SGP second substitute rider, Patryk Dudek, former world No.3 Maciej Janowski, former FIM Czech Speedway GP winner Janusz Kolodziej and two-time SGP silver medallist Jaroslaw Hampel.

Two-time SGP2 world champion Mateusz Cierniak is also named among the seniors on the under-24 list, with 2023 SGP2 bronze medallist Bartlomiej Kowalski completing the line-up.

Team manager Rafal Dobrucki has the option to select other riders for the FIM SON if he wishes, even if they are not listed in his current pre-season Polish squad – as today’s nominations are only those he intends to work with at this stage.

He must later name a squad of five seniors three weeks before the FIM SON tournament, before narrowing it down to two starters and one reserve for the FIM SON Final.

Dobrucki has also selected Poland’s Under-21 squad ahead of the FIM Speedway of Nations – SON2, which also takes place in Torun on Friday, October 3.

New SGP2 world champion Wiktor Przyjemski heads the list along with Bartosz Banbor after the pair joined forces to land Poland’s 11th straight FIM Team Speedway Under-21 World Championship in Manchester last summer.

They are joined on the list by former SGP2 stars Jakub Krawczyk and Damian Ratajczak, along with Gorzow sensation Oskar Paluch and Leszno star Antoni Mencel.

As with the senior FIM SON, Dobrucki must select three under-21 riders for SON2 – two starters and one reserve to face off with Sweden, Australia, Great Britain, Germany, Czech Republic, Denmark and Latvia over a marathon 28 heats to decide the 2025 champions.
