SWEET SIXTEEN FOR MAGIC IN WROCLAW
16/11/2023
Former world No.3 Maciej Janowski will be back for his 16th season with hometown team Wroclaw in the 2024 PGE Ekstraliga.
Janowski grew up watching the sport’s icons at the famous Olympic Stadium and took his own place in the venue’s incredible history by clinching Monster Energy FIM Speedway World Cup gold for Poland there in an epic last-heat decider on July 29.
The four-time FIM SWC winner also helped Wroclaw to 2021 PGE Ekstraliga championship gold – their first since 2006.
There’s no doubt a catastrophic injury crisis, which saw Janowski ruled out with a broken ankle, cost them dearly as Lublin beat them in the PGE Ekstraliga play-off final this year. But Magic will be determined to help Wroclaw go one better in 2024 – a year which will also see him serve as Speedway GP second substitute.
Elsewhere, Grudziadz has added a host of Polish and foreign stars to its Under-24 Ekstraliga team, including former FIM SGP2 riders Emil Breum, Kevin Juhl Pedersen and Daniel Klima.
Great Britain young guns Dan Gilkes and Jason Edwards are also listed, along with French international Mathias Tresarrieu and Danish duo Niklas Aagaard and Patrick Baek.
The Polish contingent features Kacper Pludra, Kacper Łobodziński, Kevin Malkiewicz, Jan Przanowski, Kacper Wardulinski, Konrad Pawłowski and Oliwier Kazmierski.
