31/08/2024
Slovak ace Martin Vaculik surged back into FIM Speedway Grand Prix medal contention after racing to his second win of 2024 at the DeWalt FIM Speedway GP of Poland – Wroclaw on Saturday.
Vaculik, who also topped the podium in Czech capital Prague on June 1, stormed to victory in the final ahead of hard-charging Swedish star Fredrik Lindgren in second, with Great Britain’s Robert Lambert third and Denmark’s European champion Mikkel Michelsen fourth.
Vaculik’s win sees him climb to fifth place in the Speedway GP World Championship on 95 points, with Lindgren edging into second in the standings – tied on 106 points with Lambert, who is third overall. The Swede is placed higher by virtue of his ISS FIM Speedway GP of Poland – Gorzow victory, while Lambert’s search for his maiden SGP win continues.
A delighted Vaculik said: "It’s an incredible feeling right now. I’m really pleased and grateful for the result.
“I feel great on the bike, and my mechanics did a great job – everything came together perfectly. We’re taking it step by step, staying focused, and giving our best for the rest of the season."
