Norway racer Mathias Pollestad extended his stay with Swedish side Smederna and asked, “Why should we change something that works so well?”

Pollestad enjoyed a fine 2025 season, helping the Eskilstuna club win Bauhaus Elitserien silver, as well as inspiring Norway to 2026 FIM Speedway World Cup qualification and finishing sixth in the SGP2 FIM Speedway Under-21 World Championship standings.

His efforts for Smederna have earned him a new deal, as well as the option to extend the agreement into 2027.

Addressing the fans via the club’s official website, he said: “Can any of you Smederna fans tell me why should we change something that works so well?

“I have had a fantastic time working with the team managers at the club. We have a fantastic atmosphere in the team. We help each other out on the track when needed, and I feel your exceptional support in the stands!

“That is why I have decided to continue in Smederna in the 2026 season and once again fight for the championship title. I am looking forward to your support! I have already started the countdown to meeting you in the spring. Take care of yourself.”

Smederna boss Jerker Eriksson added: “Mathias exceeded our expectations last season. It is not easy to enter a new league, but he did it very well.

"We felt early on that this is a real Smederna rider, and it feels great to get an agreement with him that has the possibility of extending beyond the 2027 season.”

Elsewhere, Noel Wahlquist has signed fresh terms with champions Vastervik to stay for 2026.
