Former Aussie champion Sam Masters returns to Sweden after a year’s break in 2025 after agreeing terms with Bauhaus Elitserien side Rospiggarna.

Masters heads to Hallstavik, where he last raced in 2018, finishing third in the league. His most recent season in Sweden saw him represent Dackarna in 2023, but he took a year out of the Bauhaus Elitserien last year, leading both of his British clubs Leicester and Oxford Cheetahs to their respective play-off finals in 2024.

Club boss Mikael Teurnberg says Masters’ experience of tight and technical UK tracks should serve him well on the former Speedway GP circuit in Hallstavik.

He said: “Sam fits perfectly into our team building. He has experience from over 10 years in England, where he has raced on a lot of small and technical tracks similar to our home track in Hallstavik, and perhaps his strongest strength is his starting speed.

“Sam has his base and family in England during the summer and gave up riding in Sweden over the past year. But he has now agreed with Rospiggarna on a plan that will fit into Sam's schedule.”

A delighted Masters said: “I am really happy to be back at the club. I have many great memories from the 2018 season, when I raced the whole year and was part of the bronze-medal team. I look forward to contributing to the team's success again.”

Elsewhere, Polish racer Oskar Polis has penned a contract with Vargarna.
