LOAN MOVE FOR RATAJCZAK
22/12/2024
Former SGP2 star Damian Ratajczak has completed a year-long loan move to PGE Ekstraliga side Zielona Gora for 2025.
Ratajczak endured an injury-hit 2024 season after suffering a broken leg while racing for Danish club Grindsted away to Holsted in May.
His absence proved particularly expensive for Leszno, with Ratajczak missing the middle of the season while he recovered as the Bulls went on to suffer relegation to Metalkas 2. Ekstraliga.
With Leszno spending next year in the second tier, Ratajczak was keen to continue testing himself in the world’s biggest speedway league, and the 19-year-old has been snapped up by Falubaz to fill one of their crucial Polish under-21 rider berths.
The 2023 SGP2 silver medallist hopes to continue his progress in Zielona Gora colours. He said: “I would like to develop here individually, and at the same time help the team fight for medals. I think that we all have such aspirations here. That is why I think that this will be a very valuable experience for me.”
Ratajczak says his recovery is progressing well following the crash that derailed his 2024 campaign.
He said: “The injury is already history. At the end of the season, I had surgery and almost immediately started rehabilitation. Everything is going according to plan. I am already thinking about getting back on the track and my first training session on the motorcycle.”
