LIONS END 15-YEAR WAIT FOR BAUHAUS ELITSERIEN GOLD IN SWEDEN

Polish duo Dominik Kubera and Mateusz Cierniak both raced to 11 paid 12 points for Swedish side Lejonen as they were crowned Bauhaus Elitserien champions for the first time since 2009.
The Lions bagged a 49-41 win at home to Dackarna on Tuesday, securing the Gislaved club a 96-84 aggregate victory, with 2024 Speedway GP rider Kubera and double SGP2 champion Cierniak leading the charge, while their compatriot Bartosz Zmarzlik bagged nine paid 11 – just days after collecting the SGP World Championship trophy in Torun.
New European champion Andzejs Lebedevs led the Dackarna response on 11 paid 12 points, with Aussie ace Brady Kurtz scoring seven paid eight and new world No.4 Dan Bewley collecting seven.
But a 47-43 loss at the first leg in Malilla last Tuesday ultimately proved fatal to Dackarna’s title hopes as the Lions ended their 15-year quest for gold.
