European champion Andzejs Lebedevs hopes to gain some home advantage for the final Speedway GP of 2025, having signed for Danish club Vojens.
The Latvian racer will line up for their Sønderjylland Elite Speedway team in the Speedwayligaen next season as he makes the move from Fjelsted.
The 2025 Deluxe Homeart FIM Speedway GP of Denmark – Vojens on September 13 will bring the curtain down on next season’s FIM Speedway Grand Prix World Championship series.
Lebedevs reached his first-ever SGP final at Vojens Speedway Center this year, and he hopes spending the season with SES will give him some inside track knowledge as he chases vital points there again next season.
He told the club’s official website: “Vojens is a technical track, which will be an exciting challenge for me. At the same time, SES is a very professional team, which I would like to be a part of and do my part to win the Danish championship with next year.
“When I spoke with the SES management, of course it also played a role that Vojens will host the last and decisive Speedway GP in 2025.”
Lebedevs has emerged as one of Latvia’s top sporting names and lifted his second Speedway European Championship this year to extend his stay in the Speedway GP series into 2025.
The country’s first full-time Speedway GP rider is determined to continue bringing success to his homeland. He said: “Ice hockey and football are very important in Latvia, but if we can do well – as a nation – in the FIM Speedway of Nations and FIM Speedway World Cup, then it will really mean something because the Latvian sports fans are very proud of the nation.”
