Czech charger Jan Kvech has his sights set on a return to the FIM Speedway of Nations Final in Manchester next week.

Kvech, who joins forces with Vaclav Milik and Adam Bubba Bednar, heads into the tournament on the back of his best-ever FIM Speedway Grand Prix performance after scoring eight championship points in the ISS FIM Speedway GP of Poland – Gorzow last Saturday.

He brought that form to the UK last night as he powered to a fantastic 14 points for British club King’s Lynn in their 57-33 Rowe Motor Oil Premiership win at home to Birmingham.

Kvech and Milik teamed up to fire the Czech team to a fantastic fifth place at the 2022 SON in Vojens – finishing ahead of Poland in sixth.

It’s a feat the strongest Czech team in over a decade is determined to build on as they take on Australia, Denmark, Latvia, USA, Slovenia and Norway in Semi-Final 2 on Wednesday.

“I am very happy to be in the Czech team,” Kvech said. “We want to go to the Final there. I think we have a good team. If I score my points on the track and we have a good day as a team, I think we have a chance to go to the Final.”

Kvech admits making the move to the UK has given his fortunes on the world stage a lift. He said: “I am very happy I signed for King’s Lynn because I have more racing and more racing on technical tracks. Being in Britain is helping me and I am very happy with that.”

The former SGP2 and SON2 silver medallist was gutted not to make the first SGP semi-final of his career in Gorzow last Saturday.

“I was so close to going to the semi-final,” he said. “But I am very happy I won two heats. I made a mistake in one heat. My bike was a bit flat, and I couldn’t turn it in the material. I almost crashed. Hopefully at the next GP I can get some more heat wins.”
