KUBERA: ALL SET FOR SEASON TWO IN SPEEDWAY GP
03/05/2025

Polish star Dominik Kubera insists he is better prepared for season two in Speedway GP as he lines up in the 2025 WWK FIM Speedway GP of Germany – Landshut tonight.
Kubera made his full-time Speedway GP debut in 2024, finishing eighth in the World Championship and reaching three finals in Landshut, Prague and Cardiff.
Despite featuring in the top 10 of the PGE Ekstraliga average charts in Poland for the past four years, Kubera admits adapting to the rigours of Speedway GP life was no easy task, not least riders’ hectic race day schedule.
He said: “In the morning, we have a lot of interviews and a lot of pictures. After that, you have Qualifying, then you choose your starting number, then we have the autograph session and then we race. It’s a really long day and it takes a lot of power from the body. Now I know how it looks, and I can prepare better for this day, and of course for the tracks.
“Six or seven tracks were new for me last year. I had to choose a good engine with the characteristics I wanted for that track. I wrote something after every GP in my notebook, what I can do better, what was good and what was bad. Now I can read something before the next GP there, which will maybe help me.”
Kubera was proud to guarantee his 2025 Speedway GP spot by finishing third at the FIM SGP Challenge in Pardubice on October 4.
He said: “It’s the first time I have made it into the GP by qualifying at the Challenge, and I am happy about that. It’s a better feeling than taking a wild card because I fought for this on the track. I did that, and it was a good feeling after the meeting.”
While Kubera will enter the 2025 Speedway GP qualifiers, he would love to punch his ticket for 2026 with a top-seven finish in this year’s Speedway GP World Championship standings.
He said: “For me, the goal is the top seven. But first of all, I want to ride in every meeting and every Speedway GP, be healthy and get a good score. I want to look in the mirror after every meeting and see a Dominik who has given 100 percent of what he can do in that moment.”
Having achieved three fourth places in the 2024 series, Kubera is keen to enjoy another taste of the podium champagne after reaching the final on both nights of the 2021 FIM Lublin Speedway GP double-header as a wild card, finishing second and then third.
“Of course, I want to make all the finals and take the trophy,” he said. “My second goal for this season is to be in the final and not be the last one. I want to be on the podium like I was in Lublin because I think about it all the time. I want to get this feeling back because it is awesome, and I would love it.”
