Polish star Bartosz Zmarzlik stormed to a 14 paid 15-point maximum as Lejonen took a giant stride towards Sweden’s Bauhaus Elitserien final with a 53-37 play-off semi-final, first leg win at home to Indianerna on Tuesday.

Zmarzlik went unbeaten over five fantastic rides, as he warms up for Saturday’s OlyBet FIM Speedway GP of Latvia – Riga.

He was nicely backed up by SGP rival Dominik Kubera, who scored 11 paid 13 points, with their compatriot Kacper Woryna adding 11 and SGP2 champion Mateusz Cierniak notching nine paid 10.

Deluxe Homeart FIM Speedway GP of Denmark – Vojens wild card Anders Thomsen led the way for the Indians on 13 paid 14, with recently-announced DeWalt FIM Speedway GP of Poland – Torun pick Patryk Dudek scored nine. Szymon Wozniak added six paid seven.

In the day’s other semi-final, Swedish international Timo Lahti scored 13 paid 14 points for Dackarna as they blazed to a 52-38 win away to near neighbours Vastervik.

Lahti was aided by a 10-point tally from Aussie ace Brady Kurtz, with Latvian racer Andzejs Lebedevs adding eight paid nine, Rasmus Jensen notching a straight eight and Dan Bewley scoring seven.

Danish international Mads Hansen was Vastervik’s top rider on 11, with Bartosz Smektala bagging nine points, Max Fricke collecting eight paid 10 and GB racer Robert Lambert accruing eight.

The two semi-final deciders take place next Tuesday.
