23/07/2024
American ace Luke Becker raced to 14 paid 15 points for Vastervik as they retained top spot in Sweden’s Bauhaus Elitserien with a 50-40 win away to Indianerna on Tuesday.
Becker starred for his country at the FIM Speedway of Nations in Manchester and was in red-hot form for Vastervik, picking up four wins and a second place behind partner Mads Hansen in heat seven.
While he failed to finish in heat 13, his efforts still ensured a convincing win for the visitors, with Hansen also impressing on 14 from six rides as the team raced without British star Robert Lambert.
Triple Aussie champion Max Fricke collected 11 paid 12, with double Swedish champion Jacob Thorssell adding 10 paid 13.
Polish star Patryk Dudek topped the score chart for Indianerna on 12, with Krzysztof Buczkowski adding eight paid nine and Speedway GP racer Szymon Wozniak scoring five paid eight.
Elsewhere, second-placed Lejonen kept up the pressure as four-time Speedway GP world champion Bartosz Zmarzlik collected 15 paid 16 to lead the Gislaved club to a 49-41 win away to Smederna.
Zmarzlik had plenty of scoring support as compatriot Kacper Woryna added 11 paid 12, Sweden’s Oliver Berntzon bagged 10 paid 14 and Speedway GP star Dominik Kubera added eight. Danish international Frederik Jakobsen topped the Smederna scoreboard on nine.
Danish racer Rasmus Jensen racked up 14 points for Dackarna as they battled to a 45-45 draw away to basement club Vargarna.
Jensen dropped just one point over five rides, with in-form Aussie ace Brady Kurtz accruing 11 paid 12 and Ryan Douglas adding eight paid nine. Latvia’s Andzejs Lebedevs scored five.
Former World Under-21 champion Jakub Miskowiak led the Vargarna scoring on 11, winning the final race to guarantee his side a share of the spoils.
