09/06/2024
Slovak star Martin Vaculik raced to 13 points for Gorzow as they defied a 15-point haul from Torun hero Robert Lambert to win 50-40 at the Marian Rose Motoarena in the PGE Ekstraliga on Sunday.
Vaculik dropped just two points to mastermind a huge victory for the visitors, with Danish racer Anders Thomsen adding 11 and ISS FIM Speedway GP of Poland – Gorzow wild card Oskar Fajfer tallying a vital 10 points.
Despite falling short of the British Championship semis and finals in Manchester on Saturday, Lambert hit back in fine style by racking up 15 from six races for Torun, with former Speedway GP star Pawel Przedpelski notching nine paid 11. Emil Sayfutdinov accrued eight paid nine.
In the day’s other match, an heroic 15 paid 16 points from former world No.3 Maciej Janowski could not save Wroclaw from a 50-40 loss at Zielona Gora.
Two-time Speedway GP silver medallist Jaroslaw Hampel led the Falubaz scoring on 11, with Piotr Pawlicki picking up nine, Rasmus Jensen collecting eight paid nine and Przemyslaw Pawlicki scoring eight. SGP rider Jan Kvech notched five paid six.
Janowski followed up his second place at Saturday’s Speedway European Championship opener in Debrecen in fine style for Wroclaw, with Dan Bewley building on his third British Championship win by bagging 10 paid 12. British Final runner-up Tai Woffinden scored seven.
In Metalkas 2. Ekstraliga, Speedway GP star Kai Huckenbeck scored eight paid 10 points as Bydgoszcz thrashed Rybnik 61-29 at the Polonia Stadium.
