Double Danish champion Anders Thomsen raced to 12 paid 13 points for Gorzow as they saw off arch-rivals Zielona Gora 48-42 in their PGE Ekstraliga derby at Edward Jancarz Stadium on Sunday.

Thomsen picked up three wins from five outings, culminating in victory in heat 15 to ensure Falubaz went home empty-handed, with Gorzow also bagging the bonus point 97-83 on aggregate.

Speedway GP star Szymon Wozniak also impressed for the hosts on 10 paid 11, with world No.3 Martin Vaculik notching nine.

Brothers Przemyslaw and Piotr Pawlicki both led the way for Zielona Gora, scoring 13 and 11 points respectively. SGP rider Jan Kvech scored one.

Elsewhere, basement club Leszno kept their survival hopes alive as Polish rider Grzegorz Zengota scored 11 paid 12 points to lead them to a 47-43 victory at home to second-from-bottom Grudziadz, which leaves Leszno now two points behind with three matches to race.

Aussie Under-21 captain Keynan Rew brought his red-hot SON2 form to Leszno, scoring 11 points for the Bulls, with his compatriot Ben Cook bagging seven paid nine. Latvia’s Andzejs Lebedevs scored three points.

Vadim Tarasenko topped the Grudziadz score chart on 12 points, with Danish racer Michael Jepsen Jensen tallying 10. Former World Under-21 champion Jaimon Lidsey notched nine, with Max Fricke adding eight.

In Friday’s fixtures, four-time Speedway GP world champion Bartosz Zmarzlik bagged 12 paid 13 points for Lublin as the league leaders triumphed 48-42 at home to Czestochowa.

Triple SON2 champion Wiktor Przyjemski tallied 10, with Dominik Kubera adding eight paid nine, Fredrik Lindgren scoring seven paid eight and Jack Holder registering five.

Danish racer Leon Madsen scored 16 for the Lions, with both Mikkel Michelsen and Kacper Woryna notching 10 paid 11.

In the weekend’s other match, 2021 Speedway GP world champion Artem Laguta raced to 12 paid 13 points as Wroclaw defeated Torun 48-42 at the Olympic Stadium.

Despite a difficult journey to Poland due to Friday’s global IT failure, Maciej Janowski made it to his home city, tallying 10, with Speedway GP star Dan Bewley bagging eight paid nine.

Former world No.3 Emil Sayfutdinov collected 12 paid 14 for Torun, with Robert Lambert recording 12 and Patryk Dudek picking up 11 paid 13.
