Danish star Leon Madsen tallied 12 paid 13 points for Czestochowa as they fended off a battling Leszno side to win 47-43 in their PGE Ekstraliga showdown on Friday.

Madsen took a vital victory in heat 15 to ensure the points for the home side, with double World Under-21 champion Maksym Drabik also impressing for Czestochowa on 10 paid 11, while Mikkel Michelsen scored four.

The visitors were inspired by an 11 paid 12-point haul from 2023 SGP2 star Keynan Rew, while Polish star Grzegorz Zengota scored a straight 11.

Leszno was also boosted by an impressive nine paid 10 points from Australian rising star Ben Cook, who picked up two stunning heat wins on his first-ever PGE Ekstraliga appearance. Andzejs Lebedevs scored three.

Elsewhere, Speedway GP duo Jack Holder and Dominik Kubera both bagged eight paid nine-point maximums for champions Lublin as they won a rain-shortened match 40-20 at home to Grudziadz.

World No.2 Fredrik Lindgren also went unbeaten by an opponent on seven paid nine, while Polish icon Bartosz Zmarzlik scored six.

Polish young gun Kacper Lobodzinski was Grudziadz’s top performer on five paid six, while Michael Jepsen Jensen added five and Max Fricke scored two.

Sunday’s fixtures see Zielona Gora host Wroclaw and Torun welcome Gorzow.
