Polish racer Patryk Dudek powered to 12 paid 13 points for Torun as they opened their PGE Ekstraliga title challenge with a fine 49-41 victory at home to Wroclaw on Sunday.

On the day Torun team manager Piotr Baron extended his contract until 2027, Dudek dropped just two points to the opposition over five rides.

He was well supported by a 10 paid 12-point return from former world No.3 Emil Sayfutdinov, nine paid 11 from Danish racer Mikkel Michelsen and nine from world No.2 Robert Lambert.

Former Speedway GP world champion Artem Laguta led the Wroclaw challenge on 13 points, winning three of his six heats. His second place in race nine also featured an epic rundown of Lambert as he just pipped the Brit on the line.

Polish star Maciej Janowski notched nine paid 10, while Polish Under-21 champion Jakub Krawczyk collected seven paid eight. Speedway GP rider Dan Bewley scored four paid five, while Brady Kurtz added four on his first PGE Ekstraliga appearance for Wroclaw.

Elsewhere, double Australian champion Rohan Tungate starred on 11 paid 13 points for Rybnik as the newly-promoted club announced their PGE Ekstraliga return with a 49-41 victory at home to Gorzow.

Making his first top-flight appearance since 2020, Tungate picked up two wins and a paid victory from five rides. He was backed up by 11 paid 12-point hauls from former world-champion teammates Nicki Pedersen and Chris Holder.

Danish champion Anders Thomsen led the Gorzow charge on 14 points, with young gun Oskar Paluch impressing on 11 paid 13. Slovak star Martin Vaculik added eight, while Andzejs Lebedevs scored five.
