CLOSE SHAVE FOR DOYLE AS HE SITS OUT IPSWICH PLAY-OFF OPENER

Aussie ace Jason Doyle admits he has had a close shave as he takes a break from the track for Ipswich’s Sports Insure Premiership play-off semi-final opener in Manchester tonight.

Doyle picked up some unwanted drive and ran into Swedish rival Fredrik Lindgren with the pair crashing heavily in heat five of the DeluxeHomeart FIM Speedway GP of Denmark – Vojens on Saturday night.

The Newcastle-born racer was taken to hospital for checks and withdrew from the event, but it has since been confirmed he suffered no broken bones, and he has returned to his UK base near Norwich to recover.

Doyle has confirmed he will not line up for Ipswich in their play-off semi-final showdown with Belle Vue tonight.

But he is hopeful his layoff will not be a long one and confirmed that he has already taken decisive action to remove the beard he was sporting in Vojens – to hopefully avoid any further mishaps.

Posting on Instagram, he wrote: “I would personally like to thank everyone who has taken the time to message me after my crash on Saturday night. The unlucky beard has been taken off! And I am back at home in Norwich!

“Few days off and will be back on a bike! Thank you. Good luck to Ipswich Witches tonight in Manchester I’ll be watching on tv and cheering all the boys on!”
