Aussie racer Brady Kurtz stepped up his pursuit of title rival Bartosz Zmarzlik by taking his second straight FIM Speedway Grand Prix victory in the Virkvarn FIM Speedway GP of Sweden – Malilla on Saturday night.

Kurtz made a triumphant return to his former Bauhaus Elitserien home track, winning four of his five heats to reach the final as top scorer. He then took victory ahead of Poland’s five-time Speedway GP world champion Zmarzlik, who was second after passing Britain’s Dan Bewley going into lap two.

To complete a carbon copy of the Events.com FIM Speedway GP of Poland – Gorzow podium on June 21, Bewley claimed third place.

Aussie star Jason Doyle continued his recent resurgence, reaching his first final of 2025 and finishing fourth, with a crash on the first lap of the final costing him a podium place.

Kurtz is now just nine points behind Zmarzlik in the Speedway GP World Championship race with three rounds remaining in Latvian capital Riga on August 2, Polish city Wroclaw on August 30 and Danish venue Vojens on September 13.
