Aussie racer Nick Morris can’t wait to hit the ground racing in March as the UK resumes a full speedway schedule for 2022.

The former FIM Speedway World Cup finalist will compete for Wolverhampton in the SGB Premiership and Leicester in the SGB Championship.

Racing in the UK was delayed until mid-May last year due to the pandemic, but the action is set to get started at the usual time of late March this season, with extra competitions taking place in both leagues.

Despite spending the off-season relaxing in Australia, Morris cannot wait to test himself over a full season on the shale as he prepares to fly in.

He said: “I will be straight back into it the week after I arrive with a few testimonial meetings plus the press days. It’s going to be hectic but that’s exactly how I like it. We didn’t have a proper full season last year so it will be good to get back to some sort of normal this season.

“I’m due to land in Britain this weekend when the fun starts again. It has been great being home getting some sunshine and seeing everyone again and hanging out, but this time of year is always great.

“The start of any season is always exciting and everyone starts again and has high hopes for a good season. I’m no different and can’t wait now for it to start again.”

Morris heads back to his base near Swindon, where he still has a strong connection with the Robins after spending seven seasons in their colours from 2012 until 2018, helping them to two SGB Premiership league titles.

He said: “I’ve been there for the past eight years and it just works perfectly for me. The setup is spot on and I’m happy being there.”
